Reconnecting With Yourself When You’ve Forgotten Yourself

Sometimes we wake up on certain mornings with a feeling that is difficult to explain — an uncomfortable feeling. Life seemed to be going well yesterday, and today, somehow, it doesn’t. A feeling that something is missing. A sense of emptiness, doubts, fears. We may no longer know what truly makes us happy, what we want, or what feels like us.

Maybe, from constantly trying to meet other people’s expectations, always saying yes when we really want to say no, or simply moving through the different stages of life, we have slowly drifted away from ourselves.

Coming Back to Yourself Doesn’t Mean Changing Everything

Reconnecting with yourself doesn’t necessarily mean leaving your job, ending a relationship, or moving to the other side of the world. Sometimes, change begins much more simply.

With one question: What do I want?

Not what I should want.
Not what would make other people happy.
Not what seems reasonable.

But what is truly important to me today.

Listening to What Is Here, In This Moment

Without immediately thinking about what will happen next. We often look outside ourselves for answers. A new project. A new relationship. A new place. A new direction. But taking some time to slow down can allow us to hear things we may have stopped listening to.

What gives me energy?

What drains me?

What am I missing?

What would I like to find again?

And most importantly: What still feels like me?

You don’t need to have all the answers right away. Sometimes, simply asking yourself the right questions is already a way of coming back to yourself.

Giving Yourself Permission to Evolve

We change. We evolve. What felt right for us five years ago may no longer feel right today. A life that once felt right can begin to feel too small. That doesn’t mean we made the wrong choices. It simply means that we have evolved, grown, processed, and integrated our experiences. Reconnecting with yourself may mean allowing yourself to meet the person you have become and giving that person a place in your life.

What If You Took a Little Time for Yourself?

You don’t need to have all the answers before you begin. Sometimes, having a space where you can speak freely, step back, and look at your life from a different perspective can open the door to something new.

That is also the intention of my 1:1 online mentorship: to create a space where you can slow down, find greater clarity, and explore what might be the next step for you.
